General Background:
Dan grew up in the western suburbs of Minnesota, and moved to Duluth for high school. He was a natural born hockey player, he started skating at 22 months old!
Hockey Background:
Youth Hockey:
* Started playing hockey at age 4, and goalie at 5.
* While playing AAA hockey for the Minnesota Blades, he played in AAA tournaments across the nation including: Detroit, Ottawa, and Vancouver
High School:
* Dan attended Duluth East High School from 1998-2001
* During his sophomore year Dan became the starting goalie, and played every game for the next 3 years, compiling a record of 60 wins and 19 losses.
* Set a school record with a career high 60 wins.
* Won the 2000 Northland Goaltender of the Year award.
* Made the All State and All State Tournament Teams in 2000.
* In 2000 his team was the State Championship Runners Up.
* In 2000 and 2001 won the Team MVP award.
* In 2001 was made the Team Captain.
* Made the 2001 All State Team.
* Won the Chicago Showcase Tournament in 2001.
Beyond High School:
Dan had a very exciting post-high school career playing:
As a member of the Borderland Thunder (Jr. A) in Canada from 2002-2004: Won the SIJHL Championship in 2003.
* Placed 3rd in the 2003 Dudley Hewitt Cup in 2003 (Ontario Provincial Championships)
* 2003 SIJHL Goaltender of the Year.
* SIJHL All Star Game MVP in 2003 and 2004.
* Team MVP in 2003 and 2004.
As a member of the Muskegon Fury (UHL, now the IHL) in 2004:
* Won the Colonial Cup Championship in 2004
In 2005 Dan attended the Iowa Stars (AHL) training camp.
Goalcrease History:
* Dan began attending Stauber/Ostby camps during his youth hockey days.
* Dan continued to train with the Goalcrease throughout high school.
* In 2005 Dan became a certified Goalcrease Instructor
Current Life and Hockey Highlights:
He enjoys watching soccer, cycling, and lifting weights.
In 2007, Dan enlisted in the Navy SEALs, but returned to the Goalcrease after recieving a medical discharge from the Navy.
In 2005, Dan became a certified personal trainer with A.C.E. (American Council on Exercise)
Dan loves coaching goalies at the goalcrease and watching them improve!
